You hadn’t thought of it before
But there it is.
Suddenly, the world opens up,
but it’s not your thing.

This thought flits across your brain.
“No chance, no way. Not happening.”
But it’s still there – pushing, persisting,
even though you’ve told it to go away.

The dream takes a twirl through your imagination
and you push back.
“Not on your life! I can’t do it.
I won’t do it.”

Now, it wears colors. Red and green and brown.
You’re convinced – you’re too scared
And that won’t do.
Not at all. “Go away.”

Yet this thing – this idea persists.
It calls your name
And asks you to listen, just listen.
You could be great together, you dreamer and dream.

Sigh and “give in” – you’ve lost now.
This dream has won your soul and heart.
Embrace the loss – you’ve won!
You and this dream belong to each other.

And how lovely that is.
