She's like chartreuse in all that she does —
they know her name,
they know her function.
But no one knows who she is,
and no one cares that she is a person.
We're told to hide away,
don't discuss,
never show,
never acknowledge.
Except alone,
in hidden corridors,
secret passageways
where only "our kind" might tread.
What is a woman? A woman can talk peace to men consumed with hatred, anger, and fear whilst comforting little children terrified by the shells, bombs, and bullets of men at war.
