Between Ruins and Resilience

The morning light slips through the cracks of my window, revealing fragments of a city that refuses to disappear. Every street corner carries a story, some whispered, some shouted, some carried gently by the wind.

Songs of Optimism

Bold, thundering C-major chords seize the day with no room for doubt. It’s as if God is in the driving seat full of confidence and all is well. There are no obstructions on the straight and narrow, no one is being martyred, and though there are clouds in the sky, they look more like savory dumplings that might drop manna. The descending bass notes of the first three chords exude hope and a desire to get to the bottom of things. This is the hymn Bryn Myrddin; Welsh singing at its best.

I Will Answer Yes

One evening, readers were challenged to sit back, shut up, and listen. We were led to ask the Lord to speak clearly and listen to Him and trust that what He spoke would encourage and uplift us. As most of us know, keeping back a flood of thoughts in a quiet room can be rather challenging. But I somehow managed to still myself and my own thoughts, and soon found my mind resting in the space quietly.

It Was Supposed to Be About Being Well-Loved

Love is a risk every single time. A worthy one. One I have by His grace been able to go all-in on. When we love, we jump. We risk it all for the hope, the promise, the forever. It feels like a miracle to be able to do this when you have been hurt mentally, emotionally, and physically. Caught Between Sunset and Moonrise

Arrival at night was what I was dreading. Night sailing was bad enough, but I had no desire to get into the dinghy after nightfall. The familiar coastline of northern Kangaroo Island came into view, but the sun was setting, and by the time we arrived the coastline would be obscured.

My Magical Pocket of Garden Beauty

While I have no control over the weather or when the condo board hires folks to spread the mulch that can ruin any seeds already planted, I do have the creative ability to create a stunning garden space.

There Isn’t Language for This

I had these weird few days where I thought if I could make my room beautiful it might fix me, you know? Like, sure, I still wouldn’t be able to leave the house but maybe if I opened my curtains and let some light in, that would be practically the same thing, right? And now I am bathed in green from the window clings and the sun shining through, and I don’t feel better.
