Books lined up on shelves - inspirational quotes from authors

NaNoWriMo 2021 is a workshop in creating a masterpiece, one day at a time. A canvas of white stares you in the face each day, waiting for your words to turn it into a work of art. In the beginning, the adrenaline kicks in, and you find your path easily. Words flow from your fingertips like water off a roof during a storm. Then you start to feel a word drought hit.

                      Day nine has set in.

Your idea well is as dry as the Sahara. It’s time for a little motivation from the Masters.

“If there is a book that you want to read, but it hasn’t  been written yet, then you must write it.” ~Toni Morrison

“I can shake off everything as I write; my sorrows disappear, my courage reborn.” ~Anne Frank

“You can make anything by writing.” ~C.S. Lewis

“A blank piece of paper is God’s way of telling us how hard it is to be God” ~Sidney Sheldon

“I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.” ~Douglas Adams

“Get it down. Take chances. It may be bad, but it’s the only way you can do anything really good.” ~William Faulkner

“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” ~Maya Angelou

“There is nothing to writing. All you have to do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed.” ~Ernest Hemmingway

“A professional writer is an amateur who didn’t quit.” ~Richard Bach

“Listening to trip-hop and writing stage plays. That’s my kind of way to spend the afternoon…” ~Andrew Cartmel

“If you want to be a writer, you must do two things above all others: read a lot and write a lot.” ~Stephen King

Stories that must be told. Books that need to be written. Colors of your soul, poured (or bled) across pages of white to bring fiction to reality. If you are experiencing word drought, know that the Masters of Literature have gone through the same ordeal. The only superpower they possess is the power to resist the lure to stop writing. Don’t stop.
