The Yellow Line
Tina J Gordon
The ubiquitous yellow line—those
millions of minuscule thermoplastic glass beads stenciled down the
center of every road and highway— keep us safe in our own lane.
If by chance you drift,
the possibility of mayhem, severe damage, or god forbid death, looms on
the side of the road
like a vulture waiting to nibble the remains of a carcass.
If only life came with yellow lines
to warn us when we were about to wander out of our safety zone and
fall off the edge.
