Now, as an adult who happened to marry a man equally Christmas-crazy as myself, I decorate early for Christmas, not when it’s “normal.” I start putting up the decor in October.
Remember when you were a kid and you'd wake up early just to get in those cartoons on Saturday mornings? You'd grab a bowl of Cap'n Crunch or Cookie Crisp and nosh mindlessly as you sang the theme to Animaniacs or cheer on the Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers. Maybe you'd watch reruns of The A-Team or tune into wrestling – whatever your indulgence was (not that you understood it as such back then).
I know this last year has been difficult for many staying home, quarantining when necessary. I am an introvert, yet even I am saying, “Where are my people”?! Walking for health – or any other reason – has fallen off almost everyone's radar. Survival is all we've been thinking about – not what makes us healthy and happy.
I’ve drunk hot tea on the regular for many years anyway, but I’d never formalized this as something intentional — it always just happened before when I had time. I never made it a priority, but since doing so, it has opened up productivity, energy, and positive vibes for my day.
