The Rift
The wide
canyon-like
rift that divided
humanity
was caused by
strong faith
in gods
and whose is superior.
Fast electric
guitars, bass, machine-gun barrage drumming
turns human aggression loose
on the dance floor, helping each other out in the circle-pit
at times,
Full orchestra,
violins, cellos, & horns
quicken our pulses, legions of
lovers cling closer by their sounds
at times,
Butter-smooth
sax, trombone, & piano
heal the hearts of those
wounded in verbal conflicts with others
at times—
Music
seals
the rift
and unites
all the factions
in a beautiful
unspeakable way
religion
alone cannot.
