                      He owned the car jointly
                      with his best friend.
                      It was very old
                      and very grand,
                      a Rolls, Bentley,
                      Jag, or Daimler
                      or something
                      similar.
It made stately progress along my street
and I was unsure whether to wave
                      queen-like
                      at the neighbours
or pretend I hadn’t seen them.
                      It didn’t last, though.
                      It was a gas guzzler
                      par excellence
                      and after just one trip
                      the four mile journey,
                      was declared too expensive
and so I was back on the bus,
                      just one more time!
