                      I’ve broken free, escaped, and found my way
                      into a maze of books and magazines.
                      No minotaur shall hunt me in this place.
                      I’ll spend the day with Pratchett, Frost, or Kant,
                      go caving deep with Plato, or explore
                      great cities built by Dickens, Augustine,
                      and Poe; the works of Aristotle, Hume,
                      and Locke; the letters of the abbess Héloïse;
                      Soyinka, Mencius, Cervantes too,
                      Virginia Woolf, Maimonides, and Yeats;
                      the buried worlds of Troy and Ur laid bare,
                      Persepolis, the Mongol wars in Rus.
                      I’ll linger here until they lock the doors;
                      they’ll drag me out and send me on my way,
                      and still tomorrow I’ll return again,
                      to find escape once more within these walls.
