A square image with a cold, comforting, and snowy aesthetic, designed for a piece of Christmas fiction. The central photograph is a close-up of a snow-covered tree branch or log, with patches of moss or lichen visible. A small, lit tea light candle sits on the snowy surface, casting a warm glow. The overall mood is peaceful, reflective, and slightly magical. The title and author text are overlaid in a glowing white/blue font. A white owl logo is positioned in the bottom right corner. platters Text: Brenda Cox, Fiction, Christmas Promise

Jingling, ringling, jolly to the ears —
Christmas time at a house of cheers
clinging, bubbly toasts to the air
swirl heartful joy to the season’s flair.

Assortments filled with crackers and cheeses,
hummus and salsa, chips and pitas,
olives to cranberries, yams to sweetness —
oh, what delight from such bounteous platters.

Chimes of the hour with music to sound,
                      singers, instrumentalists, all gather ’round
repertoires with charm and warmth to hear
belts and bells enhance the atmosphere.

Richness of chocolates for all to indulge
mousses and pies, cookies, hot cocoa,
voices of all ages mingle together —
a season of joy for all to share.

Sunlight spills warmly between two towering, old trees whose thick, twisting trunks and wide branches stretch outward like open arms, their bright green leaves glowing against the golden light.
