                      L.  O.  O.  K.  Look at me!

                      S.  T.  O.  P. Stop right there! Stop on those stairs!

                      NOW!

Don’t YOU dare take another step!

Look at ME! I’m HERE for such a short time!

I stand straight and tall so you can be proud. I am extra wide at the bottom and culminate in a perfect peak for my angel. A whole entire day is spent beautifying me.

JUST ME! Putting me up, dusting me off, fanning me out, adding lights to make me sparkle and shine. I glow from the inside out. Placing my enchanting, curly-haired, blue-eyed angel in just that perfect spot at the top. Her hands clapping! Radiant. She sees everything. Exactly like me.

The ornaments that adorn my branches have sentimental value to you, therefore to me too. There are soooooo many — all brightly colored, glass, glittery, glimmering. My arms hold these beloved treasures for all to see.

Some ornaments are really old and fragile. Those go in the middle of my branches. Some are new, and some came from faraway places and can be placed anywhere. Some are home-made, and some are remembrances for family and friends — these go last. And my velvet tree skirt for Santa to put all the gifts on Christmas Eve when you’re all sleeping.

                      I. I am majestic and glorious. Those lovely evergreen candles add a nice Christmassy touch when people walk in the door. Yet, you spend all your time with that puny, insignificant tree in the other room. You ignore me and all my splendor…

Oh-oh sure, just WALK away like I wasn’t saying something imPORtant! Keeeeep ignoring me until company comes around so you can be all, “Oh, look at how pretty my tree is, certainly much better than yours, SUSAN.”

These people don’t deserve my beauty, I’ll tell you that.
