Sputter of Acclaim
At 15 he knew for sure he’d be
this Hero VIP or this Light as you too
assumed for sure you were one day going
to wear a crown reigning puffed-up beloved
over masses and populations he’d be a pride-powered
paparazzi-encircled radiance at the center of every center
whereas, plainly, at 51 he’s only ripplets on air
as of course you and I circle meek as ripplets
weak smoke-streams failing after weak
no strangers’ gasps of wonder
or frenzy of startle-stare
smoke-of-air nothing
