Sharp Edges
Watch out, dear,
lest you cut yourself
on my sharp edges,
the ones I quietly chiseled
through years of being sweet
and selfless and subdued
to frame a picture-perfect girl.
I’m more stone inside than flesh now,
a danger to myself and you.
You do not see
how I’ve grown fierce.
But I’d watch my step
if I were you.
