Looking for the Bubbles
Image created on Canva
When I was young, my mother told me
to watch for bubbles in the puddles when it rains.
If I saw the bubbles,
it would rain again later that day,
and it always rained before bed
I’m sure there is some scientific explanation,
but the idea of the clouds needing to let it all out is nicer.
Even storms need to pause and rest awhile.
People always remember the fury of the storm,
the cold drops they detest that sneak into their coats and collars,
or the clichéd potential for romance in a warm downpour.
We forget to look for the bubbles.
Like the clouds, we also need to rest.
The work will still get done.
First one downpour. Then the other.
Enjoyed this? Here are some other great poetic works!
