                      Tonight we will make
                      offerings of food,
                      of drink. Tokens.
                      Keeping faith with
                      the old, the
                      traditions passed down
                      that note that in the
                      presence of the gift
                      given is the one received.
                      Lighting the candle we
                      trust will endure through
                      the darker days. Delicate,
                      like the prayer, like
                      the flame, that is
                      steady, yet faltering,
                      while we stand, still stand.

Delight in all things holidays here at the MockingOwl Roost.

A lone, leafless tree stands in the middle of a wide, snow-covered field, its dark branches reaching outward against a glowing sunset sky. The horizon burns with warm shades of gold and orange, while heavy gray storm clouds linger overhead, creating a quiet contrast between darkness and light. power lines hum Text: Stillness After the Storm, Sara Etgen-Baker, Poetry
