Special issue - The Sleeper of R'Lyeh

Image by Derek Roper (The Mad Artist)

Today, we’re thrilled to publish a unique, special issue of the MockingOwl Roost – our first special issue.

Enjoy the stunning artwork of The Mad Artist (Derek Roper) and the writings inspired by the work, coming from the MockingOwl Roost staff.

An image inspired by H.P. Lovecraft – stories and poems inspired by the image. Note: Some stories are horror-themed, most are not.

“The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown.” – H.P. Lovecraft Fear is an essential part of the human experience, but it can also manifest into a source of inspiration. My work explores the abstract reality beyond the tangible borders of our world, and blurs the lines between terror and beauty. I want to help people escape their mundane lives by showing them worlds where reality is transformed, where the ordinary becomes extraordinary, and the cosmic scales are tipped. This can be more than a simple journey of self-discovery. Fear has the potential to act as a catalyst, to challenge whatever we may think we know about the universe, and all of its secrets.” – The Mad Artist (Derek Roper)

If you enjoyed this special issue of the MockingOwl Roost, you’ll enjoy other issues by the contributors and staff.
