Casting Whimsy Vito Tea Review
Folks who know me understand that tea makes the perfect gift for this Doctor-Who-loving, garden-planting, cat-cuddling weirdo. So, when my dear friend, Helen, showed up with a tin of Casting Whimsy Vito Tea, I was reminded of how great Helen is at gift giving. When I opened the tin and smelled this delightful blend, I was reminded of how much I’m loved.
Now, finally, as I drink my last cup of this delightful tea, I’m offering this review for you to consider one of the best dessert teas I’ve had in a long time.
The Aroma of Casting Whimsy Vito Tea
Open the tin and slowly lower your nose over the amaretto black tea blend. Let the ingredients mingle their aromas in your nostrils for a moment, then breathe in deeper.
The dark richness of the black tea hits first but quickly becomes overpowered by the amaretto flavors that rise from organic almonds, chocolate paillettes, and amaretto extract. Each of the key ingredients dance across the aroma arc over the tin, vividly painting the visual of the perfect evening cup as you watch the sunset and delight in good things.
Now, heat the kettle and pour that hot water over the loose leaf tea and let it steep for 4-6 minutes (suggest 3-5, but for a really powerful punch, go a little longer!). Sniff again and you’ll notice the aroma has deepened and richened, now even tantalizing and sweet.
Flavor Profile for Casting Whimsy Vito Tea
Amaretto, or almond liqueur, has a distinctively sweet, nutty aroma that seeps into the flavor. The aroma is the strongest part of the experience, but the flavor, when it hits the taste buds, finishes off the experience with intensity.
I love almond flavored anything, so I was especially pleased to receive Casting Whimsy Vito Tea. I was even more-so pleased when I took that first sip. The tea company has delectably blended the almonds, amaretto extract, and chocolate paillettes to create the sensation of the ultimate amaretto experience without the alcohol or calories.
I’ve not drunk amaretto liqueur (since I don’t drink alcohol for health reasons) but I have enjoyed it in chocolate bonbons and other goodies. The tea is a perfect match of that flavor, only with the richness of the black tea to enhance the flavor.
Service Ideas and Suggestions
I enjoy the tea most as a straight, unsweetened tea. But I do highly recommend serving yourself a cuppa with a teaspoon of sugar and a quarter cup of milk if you’re looking for an extra indulgent version of the tea. It’s absolutely delightful and makes for the perfect morning pick-me-up before an expected long day.
I would not recommend Casting Whimsy Vito Tea as an iced tea, as the hot water helps to flesh out the flavor while iced water cannot do as much. If you really want it as iced tea, though, I’d recommend brewing it as sun tea, then chilling it. The heat from the sun helps ripen the flavor better than a cold brew.
Overall Impressions of Casting Whimsy Vito Tea
This tea is absolutely delightful! I’m eager to order another tin soon (or pop into the beautiful store in Woodstock where they sell it in person) and let the indulgence and delight continue.
