My Favorite Lenten Practice: Giving Up Worry

For me, a Lenten practice isn’t about bondage, rules, or any form of rebellion against the “powers that be.” Lent has become a period of reflection, prayer, and fasting from things that harm instead of help.

It’s Time to Celebrate! – a Review of Harney & Sons Celebration Tea

Ahhhhhhhhhhh. Slowly sipping a delightful cuppa tea on a cold morning – or lazy afternoon – is one of the best feelings I can think of. That little touch of comfort, rich with sweet, natural flavors, fruit, and spices. And every time I take a sip of Harney & Sons Celebration Tea, that’s exactly what I'm doing: Celebrating existence.

A Midweek Bath and Guilty Pleasure TV – Positivity Corner

It might seem a trifle to some – and, honestly, it is – but for me, a relaxing bath is one of the most releasing, healing things I can do for myself. Semi-regular baths in near-scaling water filled with lovely bath oils, a fragrant bath bomb or bubble bath, does something for me that no other relaxation technique can.

Positivity Corner: Walking Three Times Daily

Walking several times throughout the day helps to de-junk my brain. I can work through the stuff that’s in my head, rattling around. And working through it clears out my thoughts and frees up space for life apart from work.

Bait & Swiss – a Cozy Mystery Review

Bait & Swiss, at a quick glance, comes from the Cheese Shop Mysteries cozy mystery series by Korina Moss. The stories center on the first-person narrator, Willa, the owner of a cheese shop in a small town on the West Coast. The story follows the mystery of poisoned chocolates and murder, which Willa must solve for the sake of herself and her friends (and former friends).

Miranda, an Obscure TV Show for All the People Who Are “Too Much”

Miranda is a tall, beautiful oddball who doesn’t meet the magazine standards of physical beauty, elegance, or womanhood. This is harped on to an almost painful level throughout the show – and people who’ve always been “accepted” for their beauty probably won’t get what this is really about and why it matters so much. That’s okay.

The Tao of Tea, Black Mango Review

Popping off the lid of the tea tin versus smelling a freshly brewed cup of Tao of Tea Black Mango offers two varied aromas. The tea leaves offer a rich, dark, almost indescribable aroma tinged with something fruity. The brewed tea, however, instantly transports you to the tropics where you might pluck a mango for enjoyment right off the tree.

Casting Whimsy Vito Tea Review

The dark richness of the black tea hits first but quickly becomes overpowered by the amaretto flavors that rise from organic almonds, chocolate paillettes, and amaretto extract. Each of the key ingredients dance across the aroma arc over the tin, vividly painting the visual of the perfect evening cup as you watch the sunset and delight in good things.

Sunday Arvo Waltz with the Long, Dark Teatime of the Soul

My soul resonates with Douglas Adams’ quote, yet stubbornly butts up against it, as my usual week, my usual time, my rest-seeking soul fights the dullness of the nine-to-five “assurance” of the world which calls me “wrong” for creating, “right” for stressing, and “weird” for seeking more than assurance that paychecks come and exhaustion reigns.

Taylors of Harrogate Blackberry & Raspberry Tea Review

Each time I sniff this tea, my tastebuds literally start to salivate. The dark, richness of the black tea blends beautifully with the sweet, tart, tangy fruit for a powerful, titillating aroma. As I breathe in the aroma, I can’t resist then drinking the tea after a long draught of the aroma, which is exactly what the scent of anything edible should do.
