Taylors of Harrogate Lemon & Orange Tea, a Review
Did someone say lemon?! You have my attention, madame. Yes – all of my attention. Especially since that delectable fruit has been infused into a black tea offering from one of my favorite British tea brands: Taylors of Harrogate Lemon & Orange Tea.
All things citrus call my name – and this tea from England is no exception. I’ve been indulging in this citrus-rich tea blend for about a year, here and there, and am eager to share my findings.
Aroma Profile Aroma Profile of Taylors of Harrogate Lemon & Orange Tea
When you open the tea sachet packet, you’ll immediately get hit with a strong orange aroma. This aroma is more powerful than the lemon or the black tea.
It makes for a good, fruity scent to “wake you up” as it were. It’s not particularly intricate, however, it is delicious, if you like oranges.
Flavor Profile of Taylors of Harrogate Lemon & Orange Tea
In case the name wasn’t a giveaway about the flavor of tea we’re indulging in here, it’s black tea with lemon and orange essence. It’s a fairly simple blend — just the black tea with the lemon and orange extracts—but it’s a delightful one.
The orange is a bit stronger than the lemon, though. Some folks can’t even taste the lemon, though they’ll realize there’s more to it than black tea combined with orange essence.
It has a powerful flavor overall, with moderate caffeination.
Service Recommendations
While I love this tea hot, it actually makes an even better iced tea. Skip the sugar, though, as the fruit makes it naturally sweet enough to enjoy on its own – nothing is needed to bring out its flavor. It also makes excellent sun tea or cold brew tea.
I like drinking the tea plain or serving it with lemon cookies, coffee cake, or spice cake. It also goes well with simple tea sandwiches (like watercress and cream cheese or ham and cheese). Just skip anything super strong, as the flavors may clash.
Overall Impressions
While I can’t say the tea is one of my favorites, it is an enjoyable tea that I think anyone who enjoys oranges and tea together will love. The lemon is barely noticeable, and probably more for folks who have defined palates (my little 11-year-old friend who loves lemons tried it and couldn’t taste them at all).
I’d buy the tea again, though, as one to mix in for the occasional fruit-essence tea indulgence.
