MockingOwl Creatives Announcement: We’re Opening a Publishing House!

You might not know it, but the MockingOwl Roost is one branch of a larger collective of creative endeavors by the MockingOwl Creatives. We’re into all things creative, not just writing! Our next big step is the MockingOwls Publishing House!
That’s right. We’re expanding our publishing borders beyond the digital magazines and blog posts we’ve been creating for the last two years. We’re now starting to publish full-length books at our publishing house!
We love small presses! And we want to expand our understanding of what they can look like and be a super personal, super effective small press that doesn’t just sell books but builds community for writers, editors, and readers as we do it.
As we move forward in this book publishing realm, we’re starting out with our homegrown authors – the people who work for us already at MockingOwl. We’re putting ourselves out there as the guinea pigs and allowing our own books to be those experiments that help the publishing team figure this thing out.
We’re excited to announce that we have already commissioned several books for publication in 2022, 2023, and 2024.

- Nobody’s Girl – Book 1 in the For the Love of Music series – biographical rock ‘n roll fiction series by author Rita Mock-Pike – coming spring 2023
- Sprouts of Hope – hopeful poetry found in dark places by poet Sue Cook – coming summer 2023
- Of Stardust and Miracles – science fantasy poetry novel by poet Sue Cook – coming autumn 2023
- Drop Dead Daisy – Book 2 in the For the Love of Music series by author Rita Mock-Pike – coming autumn 2023
- Shadow of Wings – epic fantasy trilogy by author JP DeNeui – coming throughout 2024
- Untitled poetry book from poet Sue Cook – coming summer 2024
- Red Desert – contemporary, faith leaning general fiction by author Rita Mock-Pike – coming summer 2024
