As a writer myself, this roundup of gifts for writers contains just about every great gift I can think of this season. From journals to quill sets and comfy pullovers to mugs, this collection pretty much has it all! And don’t forget those writing tools like prompts and books.

So, whether you’re married to a novelist, have an aspiring writer pal, or just love writing “stuff”, this list of gifts for writers should supply you with the perfect choices this holiday season.

Writers’ Candles

One of my favorite touches for any writing space is a lovely scented candle. Admittedly, I almost never have thematic candles, but these three are kinda fun and offer a little bit of extra encouragement as a visual reminder.

  • Smells Like She’s Writing a Best Seller
  • Smells Like a Published Author
  • Smells Like a F*cking Reminder to Write Your Book

Comfy Cozies

Most days, I recommend writers get out of bed, wear “real” clothing, and remember that their writing is their job. But there are some days when you just need a little comfy cozy going on instead. These fun socks, t-shirts, hoodies, and pullovers are just the ticket.

  • Just One More Chapter Hoodie
  • I Make Stuff Up Author Sweatshirt or Hoodie
  • Fuzzy Socks: Go Away I’m Writing
  • Writing Socks 6 Pack Variety
  • I’m a Writer, I Dream While Awake T-Shirt
  • Please Do Not Annoy the Writer, She May Put You in a Book and Kill You T-Shirt
  • Word Nerd T-Shirt: Hyperbole
  • Personalized Reading Sweatpants
  • Pride and Prejudice Fingerless Writing Gloves
  • Unreliable Narrator Beanie
  • Oversized Blanket Hoodie

Kitschy but Cool Writing Tools

Of course, every writer needs a good journal, pen set, and pen holder. These little baubles will add that extra special touch for the writer bent on the vintage motif.

  • 200-Page Leather Bound Journal
  • Typewriter Pen Holder
  • Quill Pen and Ink Set

Writing Prompts Galore!

Every writer has moments when they could use a little extra nudge. The best (or worst!) writing prompts often help the writer get it done. A good collection of dice, books, and similar prompters are a huge help.

  • 12-Sided Writing Dice
  • Writer Emergency Pack
  • 501 5-Minute Daily Writing Prompts
  • The Writer’s Block
  • Two Tumbleweeds Writing Dice
  • Creative Block

Desktop Décor

Some of the best gifts for writers aren’t actually used for writing. These could be reminders that what they’re writing matters or some fun writing-themed décor. These gifts for writers are some of the most useful and fun ones available this year.

  • Someone Out There Needs Your Writing Standing Placard
  • Author Literary Quote Clock
  • Open Book Lamp
  • Customized Desk Name Plate

Helpful Books for Writers

Before you choose any of these books as your gifts for writers, consider the genres and types of stories they write. Some are great for deep work like the psychology-focused books, others are more for nonfiction writing, and some are best suited to beginning writers rather than veterans.

  • Story Genius: Go Beyond Outlining
  • The Emotional Wound Thesaurus
  • It Was the Best of Sentences, It Was the Worst of Sentences
  • Writing For Impact
  • The Romance Writers’ Phrase Book
  • The Only Worldbuilding Workbook You’ll Ever Need
  • The Best Punctuation Book, Period.
  • A Poem a Day
  • The Writers’ Map
  • Bird By Bird
  • The Emotional Craft of Fiction
  • Self-Editing for Writers, Second Edition
  • The Negative Trait Thesaurus
  • The Psychology Workbook for Writers
  • The Trope Thesaurus
  • The Emotion Thesaurus
  • On Writing
  • The Secret to Outlining

Other Goodies and Tools for Writers

And what writer doesn’t love a good cuppa tea or coffee? Mugs, tea, jewelry, shower thoughts notebooks, revision dice, and several other choices could round out that perfect collection of gifts for writers in your life this season. Make it extra fun and tie them all up in a gift basket for the writerly soul.

  • Customized Mug: Writer, Author, Builder of Worlds
  • Sterling Silver Open Book Necklace
  • Under Desk Treadmill – To Walk While You Write!
  • Aqua Boat Notes – Waterproof Writing Pad for Shower Ideas
  • Deep Tissue Heated Massager for Neck and Shoulders – The Writer’s Best Friend
